Im slapping an old set of heads on a beater 318 for a running spare. The heads are a little rust pitted on the gasket surface. I block sanded the head (I told you it was a beater...) and its smooth and bright with the exception of a few pits. Can I get away with a normal head gasket, as in how much can they fill? Cometics say they can fill more irregularities but they are >$80 a set. Opinions?
