Gotta love FORD – NOT

My company loves FORD. That's all they buy. Then they buy el cheapo maintenance programs.

When of my Field engineers was driving a FORD Exploder back to the office, when it began to slip in and out of gear. He pulled into a service station and couldn't find anything obvious. He went to check the tranny fluid level and guess what. FORD got rid of the dipstick assembly. There is no easy way for an owner to check the fluid level.

Well, because of this, the tranny ended up destroying itself. IT had to be towed and the tranny had to be rebuilt.

I looked it up on line. There is a drain plug with a small bolt inside of it. This bolt threads into a shaft. You remove this bolt. If fluid slowly drips out, then the fluid level is fine. If nothing comes out, then you need to add fluid. You add fluid to removing another bolt from the side of the transmission. You thread in a fill hose and then pump fluid in, until it begins to drip from the fluid level shaft. Then you reinstall both bolts.

Yep, I just want to drag my fat, happy butt under my vehicle, when I want to check my fluid levels.

I guess that if you build 'em this way, you continue to suck money out of the owners, for rebuilds. No wonder FORD didn't need any Federal stimulus.
