Hi guys, having an issue with my fuel gauge, sending unit was replaced last year, everything was working well until a few weeks ago. My issue is the fuel gauge needle shows maximum full when turning on the car, I checked the ground it seems when the unit was installed the ground wire was connected to the short fuel line stub on the sending unit using a hose clamp, the other end was connected to the flange of the gas tank using a bolt and nut. I removed the bolt and sanded the area to bare metal then replaced, at the fuel line coming out of the sending unit i removed the clamp and replaced it making sure the wire has a very good contact. I removed the wire from the dash to the sending unit and fuel gauge dropped to zero. Some times for a minute or so the gauge will show 1/2 a tank which is where it should be then climb quickly back to full. Does this sound like sending unit or gauge, if float was stuck not sure how it would show full at half tank. any thoughts appreciated pete
