Exodus 13:19And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for he had placed the children of Israel under solemn oath, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here with you.” (NKJV)It’s only one verse, but this passage demonstrates the passion of a true leader. Joseph wasn’t looking to simply fulfill his term in God’s plan. He passionately believed in what God had promised. Since more than four centuries passed from Joseph’s day until the day Moses led the people out of Egypt, we can only imagine how prominent Joseph’s request must have been for it to be passed down to the current leadership. But while a leader may die, his passion lives on. As God’s men, we must realize that what we care about outlives us too. Our children and grandchildren will remember us in some way. Usually, that remembrance is not for our achievements or awards but by how we lived. That’s the legacy they will carry with them. If you were blessed by quality men in your young life, think of how you remember them. You likely know the big things and the little things they seemed to think were important. Those are the elements of passion you can’t help but believe in yourself.
