Exodus 8:1-4 – And the Lord spoke to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me. But if you refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all your territory with frogs. So the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into your house, into your bedroom, on your bed, into the houses of your servants, on your people, into your ovens, and into your kneading bowls. And the frogs shall come up on you, on your people, and on all your servants.”’” (NKJV)It’s easy to criticize Pharaoh for his ridiculous stubbornness against a God he could not control. The terms God offers are clear, but the Egyptian king can’t bring himself to obey and the resulting judgment is overwhelming to say the least. How could he be so stubborn? Perhaps we should ask ourselves the same question. God has revealed to us the many reasons we should avoid sinful choices and still, we run there. In spite of our suffering and the setbacks our sin brings, we make a mistake similar to Pharaoh, even causing those around us to suffer too. God steers us from sin because of His love. How foolish we must look when we ignore His clear warnings.
