Christmas Day Devo ~ The Greatest Gift.

The Greatest Gift This Christmas

If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
(Matthew 7:11 ESV)

This year is my first Christmas without my father. My father was a very important person who has sacrificed a lot for me and my family. He protected, educated, taught with all he had. He tried to give the best to this family. Even though he did not leave me a worldly inheritance, he left me an inheritance which was a faith to Jesus Christ which he always held on into, until the end of his life. I know that he is now present with our Heavenly Father.

In the beginning of my faith, I saw my Heavenly Father figure as a very far off figure, hard for me to stretch my hands to in all of His glory. Yet my life experiences with my earthly father has drawn me closer to a right picture of a Father in Heaven.

In the past, I pictured Christmas as just a celebration with gifts. Now that my father is gone, this Christmas seems to be different and special. According to Jesus’ words in Matthew 7:11, it ensures how our Heavenly Father knew the best for us, even far beyond a wicked earthly father. And for me, the greatest gift the Heavenly Father gave in life was His only begotten Son, Jesus. He has been my Savior, Redeemer, Counselor and my only special access towards a very beautiful and intimate relationship with my Heavenly Father.
