Prepping A New Instrument Cluster

I have a new instrument cluster for my son’s 66 Imperial thanks to @detmatt. I have a couple of questions before the install. First, I am wondering if the odometer/speedometer should be lubricated, if so what are some recommendations for lube types?

I ordered in the ones Van’s has listed for replacement and not even close enough to make work so I ordered 2 other styles they had which they said may work. None they had were even able to be modified to work at around $60ea. STEEL RUBBER PRODUCTS HAS PART NUMBER 70-1556-890(SEE…

Parts cleaners – Ultrasonic, vibratory & solvent-experience welcome.

I have used many parts cleaning/ restoration methods over the years. I seem to spend a lot of time cleaning parts and trying to make them new again. I also dabble in cad / zinc replating (another time suck for a different thread).
I have always used so…
