Best model timing light to do total advance

Hi I just had my 383 rebuilt on my 1967 Satellite, It was burning a bit of oil and was in need of care, All was original except the carb which is a Carter/ Weber competition 600, I had had some issues in the past with fuel supply so to remedy i used a competition pump with a regulator set at 5 3/4 lb. The car ran perfectly with no hesitation. Since the rebuild there has been some hesitation, in the rebuild a more street worthy cam was used producing torque from 1800 to 5500 , i am not sure how much that affects fuel, also when they put the pump back on there was a slight leak so they installed a standard pump that matches the motor, I checked the fuel supply at idle and found 5 3/4 lb. The timing is set at about 12 btdc same as before. I was thinking maybe total advance could be an issue. Any thoughts appreciated.
