1965 Console lid restoration

What is my most economical option to restore my 300L console lid? I got a quote from Just Dashes, and it was almost $1000, which I need to buy other necessary interior parts. The vinyl is sun baked crispy so it needs to be completely rebuilt. Has anybody attempted to rebuild their own? It looks like something that’s possible for me to attempt, but I am wondering if anybody has tried this with success.
