Edelbrock 1406 flapper?
Just curious where the flapper should be resting at with the engine off? Is there supposed to be a gap? I don’t know the technical term for the flapper…choke valve?

Leaking freeze plug on 67 383
I’ve got a leaking freeze plug on the passenger side of my Newport. It’s not bad by any means. But it smells terrible. I’m worried about driving it and it blowing out completely.
Any suggestions?
It’s roughly between the center two spark plugs. Not sure if it’s possible to replace without removing a bunch of stuff…
Shaving the front end of my ’67
Got all the emblems and trim pulled off the hood lip. Gonna fill it in with bondo and paint it. Gonna go for the shaved look. Might black out the whole thing eventually…what’s good to paint over chrome?
Some guy gave me a FREE 4 Barrell intake, which carb??
So this guy comes into my shop at work and asks me about my Newport and if I’d like to have a 4 barrel in there. He then leads me out to his truck and hands me a 4 barrel intake, and says I can have it for free. :yaayy:
Turns out, he works a few blocks over and has seen my car several times and he has a ’68 New Yorker, which now I’m really interested in having a look at, never seen it around.
I was planning on having my 2 barrel rebuilt, but now I’m thinking I should just go for the 4. He…
Still fighting fuel gauge issues…
So as much as I love beating on this dead horse…
67 Newport base, 383, auto.
The car came with a new sending unit installed but the gauge never read full. I had another, supposedly better sending unit installed just over a year ago and it worked great for about 2 tanks of gas and now it has the same issue.
It reads almost half when really it’s full.
I can ground the wire from the sending unit and the gauge will go all the way up.
I sink tested the “old” unit and it works fine. I hung…
Factory exhaust dimensions on ’67 Newport base w/383
I’m looking to replace the muffler on my car with something better than the old stock muffler. I put on a 4 barrel last fall but I just don’t have the $800 to have duals put on right now so I thought I could swap out the single muffler to get it flowing a little bit better.
Whats the pipe size? Any recommendations on brands?
