Picked up a set of 1970 340 engine heads from the cars original owner who decided to go with
a 392 Hemi conversion. He still has the block and crank. So while looking at the heads, I noticed one was a O head and the other was a Z head. I measured the intake valves on both heads and both measured with a digital caliper @ 2.02. Looks like the heads were cast a month apart,10069 and 11129. Part numbers were both 915’s

340 mismatched heads?

Just removed from a 340 engine. Rear sump oil pan with pick up and made in U.S.A HV oil pump.
Oil pump has HV on cover and 72HV on pump body.My guess its a Melling HV pump which supplies 25% more oil volume than their standard 63 pump.Very nice shape. …

What replacement crank dampners are 340 folks using these days? I want a real good quality one, for street / strip and trying to avoid the $500.00 price tag. Any recommendations?

Just pulled from a running car, a very nice 73 340 intake. Part # 3671 918.
Dated 2-21-73 .Intake is correct for 1972 340 with N95, or 1973 340.
Of course will work on any LA 318 /340 /360 engine.
