Did every 1974 Gold Duster have a resonator?
Hi All – It’s Bob again, the guy researching the correct exhaust system for my 74 Gold Duster. I’ve learned that the optional Deluxe Sound Insulation Package always came automatically as part of the Gold Duster package in 1974. Since the exhaust resonator was a part of the sound insulation package, this meant that every Gold Duster in 1974 came from the factory with a resonator. Does this sound right? Fellow Moparites, greetings! Does anyone out there have an original dealer ordering book for the 1974 Duster, or access to this information online? I can’t find it anywhere. What’s in the 1974 Plymouth Duster factory “Deluxe Insulation” package?
“F” and “E” on my oil filler cap? Why?
Okay guys, looking for the best slant six minds here. I own two 74 Dusters, both with the slant six motor. On the oil filler caps on the valve covers, there are two letters stamped on the left and right ears of the caps. The left ear has an “F” stamped on it, and the right ear has an “E” stamped on it. Almost like it was referring to “full” or “empty”. What do these letters mean? Any ideas? It’s not referred to anywhere in the owner’s manual or the shop manual.
Map light from hell!
Hi guys. Anyone out there have the same problem with their 74 Dusters? Both 1974 Dusters that I’ve owned have had the same weird map light problem. When you’re inside the car, the map light switch doesn’t turn the map light on. So you test the map light by opening the door, and it illuminates just like its supposed to. So now with the door open, you pull the map light switch to the rear (the on position). Now the map light turns off. The bulb and receptacle are good, it’s just that something…
Right quarter window replacement
Has anyone ever changed a right rear quarter window on a ’74 Duster? Looks like a lot of work. Any suggestions? Is there a simple way to replace the glass only without removing the entire frame?
