Long story short, a client of my mother's has an 1994 Ram 250 van with a 5.2 Magnum engine, and it blew a water pump, and was overheating 5 miles from it's destination visibly. The water pump totally shot to the point cooland poors out fast as you pour it in.
It's stuck in a hospital parking lot (owner poor, dying, and it has necessary wheelchair lift in it). I may have to fix it in the parking lot of the Health Department across the street (I got the serpentine back on, took batter home and fully charged it, it's dead cold so it can make it), and I plan to compression test it later. I can't have antifreeze leaking in the hospital lot, cops would surely frown on it, but I have leeway (and their permission) in the combo HD/supermarket lot. Plus I have an oil collector to catch most of it. (new one cuz the antifreeze looks clean and will maybe re-use some).
Do you guys think a '94 Magnum 5.2 can drive five miles AFTER visible steam leaks and belth thrown, in 45 degree (F) weather and not blow gaskets? Thanks, I will know soon enough, but thought I'd ask.
Also, if it has air conditiooning lines blocking it, how does one remove the fan shrod without cutting it? Thanks.
