I wanted to stiffen the suspension on my stock '67 Belvedere II, but I couldn't find anything factory made. The shocks are good, but very soft. I bought four shocks from a company called shocks 2 springs. They take factory shocks and customize them to retrofit specific models. Big bucks. So today, I brought the unopened shipment boxes to a mechanic to install. Turns out, the rear shocks are coil overs, and will raise the back end of my car several inches. I found out through the mechanic that the look is not the "cool" stance it was in the 70's, and will negatively effect performance, which I realize.
The company providing the shocks will only take them back if they are defective. I wish the sales rep I spoke with would have told me about the difference in height it would make, but didn't. So, would you leave the car as is or install the shocks?
Thanks!
