489 case

I was surprised when rebuilding my rear end in my 64Polara. The case is a 742and inside was a 273 sure-grip. I was sure I'd find an open gear in there. I replaced the 742 with a 489 case and a 3.91 sure-grip. Anyone out there know anything about how a 2.73 sure-grip wound up in this former 318 car? The engine I built is a 64 426 wedge bored 0.060" over. I suspect once I get it on a dyno it will push 450HP.
