440 heads 383 heads?

will 383 heads fit on a 440? im rebuilding my 440 and the heads are cracked in all the exhaust seats. is this a common problem with these heads?
i have a spare 383 sitting around at a freinds house but i dont wanna rip it apart unless i no there ganna work.
