I have an 85 ramcharge that will be my son's first car. It has tons of issues, but I have an 84 for parts, and it's a simple truck so I proceed with blissful ignorance. It came with a busted 318 and I have a running 01 1500 ram truck that is a nice truck minus I don't have the title. So I figured I'd pull the 318 magnum engine and do a swap. I rebuilt this engine years ago and put over 150k on it so I know its a good engine.
While I know there will be issues that plague me, I am immediately concerned about fuel pressure delivery. The 85 is carburetor and I'm installing a fuel injected engine. What's the best course of action? Buy an intake to carb swap the magnum, then figure out the non computer ignition and distributor, or try to figure out a way to get high pressure fuel to it, and if so, how?
