my daughter just bought herself a used 2001 neon with a three speed automatic. it has a whining sound coming out of the trans as soon as you begin moving it goes away when you stop and when it goes into third gear. the dealer says the noise is normal gear noise for a trans of this type. i have built many transmissions in my life and with the exception of the old rockcrushers i have never had this type of noise. i have never been inside a three speed neon auto, so i dont know if it has straight cut gears or what anyone ever hear of this or is dealer blowing smoke. any advice is greatly appreciated thanks for any help.
