1971 New Yorker limousine

The car in the picture served Finland's most famous president UKK (Urho Kaleva Kekkonen) in early 70's. It was extended in Sweden and some special equipment were added then too. It's weight is 3000 kg's (about 6600 lbs). A Finnish collector has own it since 1991.

It has been driven only 74000 kilometers (roughly 46 tmiles).

Naturally the president never drove it himself. Actually, he didn't even have a driver's lisence - well, he ruled from 1956 to 1981, so a lisence wasn't much needed anyway!

He loved the speed though. Sometimes, when the schedule was tight and the police car ahead (4 cylinder cars mostly) couldn't keep up the speed UKK wanted, he ordered the driver to pass it and take the lead. Then the poor escort cars just tried to keep his taillights on sight...

Once UKK's adjutant asked to slow the speed down, closer to normal trafic. Then UKK said: "I order the speed, not you! Behave, or you'll find yourself on the nearest buss stop!" :laughing4:

What a character!

He also had a 1963 New Yorker once, but I couldn't find a picture of that one...

Just wanted to share this.
