Went to Pike county Speedway tonite for a little practice. They are having the Jambalya 100 this weekend and tonite was hotlaps for the weekend. I only went to practice and shakedown the Blue Goose. Made about 4 easy laps then turned it loose. Lap seven all the gauges were fine 65lbs. oil pressure engine temp at 170ish, trans temp never moved. Doing good so far, driver needs some work but for a rookie not bad. Went into turn 3, no brakes just blipped the throttle, she set for the turn going thru the apex and BAM! Thought someone had hit be from behind, car went airborne. What the heck? Went thru my mind just before a tire went sailing by. I know there is NO way I left that thing loose and no wobble either, I think. Shutter down crawled out and went to see. The center of the axle tore loose from the flange. I have a 1 1/2 in wide flange bolted to the wheel. I did find the brake drum so all I need is a Right Side E body 8 3/4 axle. Anybody got one???
I was determined that the Dodge was not gonna screw up on the first nite. Only Dodge and all them Chebbies. At least it wasn't mechanic or operator error.
