Steering column too long for gear box.

I have a 70 cuda and am trying to convert to power steering. I bought the Borgeson box and the supposed required custom coupler from Bergman. The whole thing is just way too long. The guy at Bergman told me to hammer the shaft in but it doesn’t look like that will work since the shaft looks too wide to go through the firewall. Can I get some advice please? Oh…. How low can you go

Questions on my new toy.

Just bought a ’73 Challenger, in general in great shape, but trying to figure out a few things. 318 slapstick auto.

1. It sits really low. I looked underneath and the leaf springs are straighter than any board you’d find in home depot.
– My guess is the leaf weakened and instead of changing the spring he just lowered the front end to match.
