742, 8.75″ third member

Looking for a 742 third member. I am looking for 3.55 ratio with suregrip. Would consider either a TM that is set up and ready to install or a TM that needs set up. LMK

Okay, I have a couple of questions. I understand that the three main castings have different pinion diameters. I understand that axle shafts are axle shafts. My car has a 742 with 2.76 open ratio. I want to either buy or have a new third member built with 3.55 sure grip. Question #1 – If I have a 742, do I need to build or buy another 742 to replace it or can a buy a 489?
Question #2 – Will the U-joint/drive shaft work fine if I do find another third member that is not a 742?

What carb for my 440?

Okay, my 440 is original to the car. It has an ABF on it now, but the carb is not original to the car. The car is a ’68 and the carb is a ’70 I believe. I carb has a miss or dead spot in it. Not sure if this is due to the lack of use or something else. I really do not know much about the carb. Question is, should I figure out exactly what I have and rebuild it or should I purchase an aftermarket carb to replace it with? So, I take my car to a locate Wheel/ tire joint to get some new wheels for my car. I ordered and paid for a new set of wheels and tires. They have came in and are ready to have them installed.
