New to B body forums

Hi there, pleased to meet your acquaintance, I’m new here on the B body forums.

I’m a young guy, hoping to learn and grow on tinkering with these old Chryslers/Dodges that were long here before me.
I have an interest in C body/full size/ forward look …

Early A727 park lock cable

As the post is titled, I just wanted to put up photos up here in case someone was having problems assembling their own early A727’s park lock cable.

The way as I see it, the “T” shaped tooth at the end of the cable goes BEHIND the park pawl, (area where my finger is pin pointing to, while the thin piano wire spring goes through the park pawl’s little hole to allow the spring to be “spring locked” to the pawl arm, then cocked to the right so the wire/spring has a 90* angle to secure onto…

Wrong Torque converter? Modify, or return to sender?

As the post title says, I’m in a middle of an Early A727 rebuild.

But a new problem has arrived, the New Torque converter from Hughes performance TC’s that I have fitted rubs against the pump housing.

With the old Torque converter as a comparison, the TC “lug” is deeper on the new TC, while the original TC “lug” is shallower by an 1/8th or so.

So I ask you A727 gurus out there, would you sand/grind down the lug.
(tapered area above the lug)
To make the new TC fit, or return the TC to…

Speedometer block off plug for an early A727?

Hello and greetings Moparphiles. Need some assistance on this matter.

As the title says, I’m looking for a speedometer block off plug, (speedo gauge is busted)

And since I’m almost done with rebuilding an pushbutton A727, I figured I can get those plugs that fit into the tail case speedo port in the meantime.

The speedo port size in the tailcase measures out to 0.9645 inch.

I’d rather not resort to plugging the port with a core plug with RTV, or slathering RTV on the speedo gear…

New Torque converter, rear gear change?

Hello wizards of the C body forums.
I’ve got a question.

I’ve got my transmission out while I’m rebuilding it.

Probably at a later date, I’d like to replace the 2.76 gears to run 2.94 gears.

Now as my transmission is out, and I’ve got a torque converter chosen.

Will a different torque converter be needed to accommodate the 2.94 gears?

The time I ordered a torque converter, I was using the 2.76 gears as a template, will this affect drivability warranting a Torque converter change to use…

General A727 Potential R&R questions/suggestions.

Recently the A727 in my 1964 Dodge custom 880 has been starting to make some noise, and decided in the near future i hope to plan on removing the transmission on my own for R&R well hopefully just a basic rebuild.
So some questions regarding the A727:

What Converter stall speed should i be aiming for? I considered a 2000/2500/2800 stall speed, the cam in the motor is a stock 256/256 cam in a big block Chrysler 361. Rear gear is 2.76. The car is practically a daily driver, but wouldn’t mind…

OE Carter Strip kits or Eddy strip kits??

Hello again Gents.

I’ve recently started to give the OE Carter AVS (1968) an honest attempt at tuning, rods/springs/jets.

I’ve been looking for a strip kit that has an assortment of jets, step up rods, step up rod springs.

From some sources I was ab…
