255 50 17s on a Dart Sport/Duster

Has anyone successfully used 255/50-17s at all 4 corners on their Duster or Dart Sport?

I’d like all four of the same size tires – 245/45-17s will work for sure (based on a huge amount of data from 72bluNblu and others) but, to me, the sidewall seems a tad short. The general thought is if one uses at least a 17×8 wheel with 19mm offset (5.25″), you can use the 245-45-17s – a 25.7″ tall tire. I’d like a little taller sidewall – even a slightly taller tire – but I don’t think a 27″ tall…

Duster Front end back to a Dart

I have a 74 Dart Sport on which someone installed a 75 Duster front clip. I want to go back to a 73-74 Dart front end.

I know I’ll need fenders, header piece and a hood. Do I also need to change the radiator support? Will the bumper work? Anything else I’m overlooking?

Thanks,

~Q

Practically new QA1 UCAs (Big Ball Joint)

I purchased these QA1 upper control arms in May. They fit beautifully and looked great but, even with the built-in 2-3* of caster, it wasn’t enough for decent alignment specs on my 74 Dart Sport. We then turned to some adjustable SPC UCAs and I got what I needed. One of the boots is split but these QA1s are practically new with maybe 100 miles on them. They’re made for made for the 73 & up large ball joint A bodies. I paid $370 (with tax) new from Summit – $300 plus shipping for you….

NOS 1975 C body A pillar Windshield Trim Moulding

I got these when I had my 75 Imperial. Car was sold a couple years ago. It’s the right & left vertical windshield trim NOS unopened. I’d imagine they’ll fit other (Formal Years) 74-78 C body hardtops but I’ll let you confirm that. Part numbers 3749426 & 3749427. Rather not separate – $100 for the pair + shipping.

1974 Dart Sport – The Dartster

After owning several full-size Mopars, I wanted something a little smaller. A Bodies have always been intriguing so I began my search. Found a Dart Sport that looked like someone had started restomodding – the most obvious thing was the front end – it’s from a 75 Duster! Aside from the Jeep ZJ door handles, a black gas cap and other ‘improvements,’ it looked solid – a prerequisite living in the rust belt – and it already had a V8 swap and some other mods. So, paid the money and it began…

Booster causing brakes to hang?

View attachment 1715369538

On my 74 Dart, I’ve noticed the brakes not releasing for about a second or so. We traced it to the booster. Jack up the car, have my buddy turn the front tire by hand and then press the brake, wheels won’t turn for about a second and then it releases. Get rid of all the vacuum in the booster and tire releases as soon as you’re off the brake pedal. Put vacuum to the booster and get the delay.

I pulled it part to see what I can see and found the rod not really…

Just found cracked upper control arm ears. They’ve been repaired but one has cracked again. We put a reinforcement behind it and rewelded it.

How concerned should I be about this?
