Steering column metal
I’m just curious does anyone know what metal the steering column is made of? Is it a pot metal or aluminum? I am talking directly behind the steering wheel, the turn signal and shifter housings.
Console ash tray
I’m looking for the guts for an A-Body console ash tray. Actually the underside piece and the slides so I can attach the door.
Classic Industries Sharktooth pigtails
Has anyone bought sharktooth turn signal pigtails from Classic? They are horrible! I’ve played with the springs and and tried different bulbs. The bulbs just don’t fit right and it’s like there is no tension on the contacts. You never know if they are on. This could be a problem if someone doesn’t see your turn signals. Problem is the bought the grill assembly in December but just installed it about a month ago. I emailed Classic, I’ll see what they say.
UCA Different Size
I am swapping out the UCA’s on my 71 Scamp to 73 up UCA’s to fix the disk brake conversion issue. The ball joints were the problem. Anyway the passenger side went fine. But the drivers side is about a 1/2″ less wide than the 71, does not appear to be bent, looks perfect. I had to back out the bushings to fit, will this be okay? And yes I know the brake line isn’t attached.

Speedometer Pinion Gear
My 71 Scamps speedometer is way off. It was born with a 904 trans and 2.76 rear and now has a 3.23. I’m running 225/60R 14 tires which are 24″ in diameter. According to the chart I need a 35 tooth gear, does that sound correct? I was out today and the speedometer said 40 but GPS on my phone was saying about 30 MPH.
3:23 Limited Slip
I replaced my 2:76 with a 3:23 limited slip about a week ago. I bought it off someone I really trust. It seems fine except at really slow speed like when parking. I’m noticing a chattering while turning almost like an old school 4WD on dry pavement ( but only a tenth as bad). Actually its very slight but its there. I also feel it in reverse. I’m using Lucas SAE 80W-90.
