My 1972 Newport 400 ci. I just had new axel bearings installed, and manually adjusted the brakes. Just to be sure that they were right, I drove to an alley, and backed up hard, and then hit the brakes to adjust them. It already had an exhaust leak, maybe it’s related? Stumbling after rough acceleration.

Howdy all,
I finally had a nice enough day to jack my 72 newport off the ground and peek around at steering components. For those of you that don’t know, the problem is wandering at high speeds.
After jacking up, I wiggled both front tires at 6 and 12 o’clock and 3 and 9. No play whatsoever (tie rod ends/ball joints). Crawling under the car and having someone push the tires in both directions, I noticed that the tie rod was able to move around 1/2 inch in either direction. The problem…

1972 Newport steering issue

I did a pressurized test on my 72 Newport, and I don’t think that the heater core is bad, but I am still missing the hoses from the engine block, and the lever that cuts it off. Could I have direct hoses, or would coolant running through it all the time overheat something? I hope it doesn’t really leak. I can live without air conditioning, but I plan on taking a long trip in march, and I just may need heat!
also, would a 69,70,71,or 73 heater core be interchangeable?
