Looking for advice on valves, lifters etc.

1972 Chrysler Newport with 400 engine. Completely factory original with 80,000 miles on it.
I had a moment of teenage dumbassery when I dropped a screw into the exhaust port for the choke and couldn’t find it. A week or two later it started knocking. I’ve started disassembling the engine, and that screw ended up lodged in one of the valves at the front passenger side of the engine. When I shine a flashlight into the port, I can see the screw head, and a round metal shaving in there. After…

Odd master cylinder issue

1972 Chrysler Newport.
Yesterday, some genius pulled out in front of me and I had a hard stop. "BRAKES" idiot light came on for a second then went away. I pulled into a parking lot, and started simple. I checked fluid first. It is a dual mast…

Suggestions on coughing/stalling

Gas always splashes out at the pump

1972 Newport. Every time I fill her up with gas, a little bit splashes out when the tank is full. The pump doesn’t kick off fast enough. If I listen real close I can hear when it gets near the end and slow down, but it seems to always not stop until it comes out. Is there any remedy for this?

Ignition coil polarity

1972 Chrysler Newport.
I made the dumb-head mistake of taking out the ignition coil without looking at witch wire went where. Based on the curvature of the wires, it looks like the + side went to the distributor, and the – side to the firewall. Is this…

Keeping vinyl tops soft

Today I poured a new bottle of conditioner into my waterbed. The thought crossed my mind, this stuff is supposed to keep the vinyl soft right? Has anyone here ever considered using it on their vinyl top?

Does anybody recognize this piece?

1972 newport. Little part found on the ground next to drivers side rear wheel, under the car. Looks almost like a u-joint cap, but it isnt. Possible that it didnt come from the car, but i want to be safe.
