What are these brackets for(one on each side of trans crossmember) and why would someone cut them?
Yeah its rusty. Plan on a dry ice blast when it’s on the lift next.

68 Newport with twist
This is my Newport project. Have had the car for 20yrs after purchasing from original owners grandson. His Mom made him sell it as he owed me money and was taking care of it.
It’s been a rolling project with periods of being daily driver in Wpg. Mb. and periods of resting while I worked on it. It has hauled much material for me and been just a side performer.
