I’m planning to install a replacement convertible top on my ’70 Challenger.

I have an air driven combo stapler/nailer. The staples for this tool are 18 gauge L type (which I believe is a 1/4 inch crown). The minimum leg length staple for this tool is 1/2 inch.

Will 1/4 inch crown with 1/2 inch leg stainless staples work installing my new top? I’ve seen requirements for staples to be 18 to 20 gauge stainless from 3/8 inch to 1/2 inch leg, but nothing that specifies the staple width….

Convertible top installation…

Hi all. Don’t know who might be interested, but I mounted a 26 inch radiator on my Challenger’s 22 inch radiator support without any cutting or welding. I did this by making an adaptor plate for the passenger side. I used 16 gauge stock from Lowe’s. Attached are the measurements and pics of the adaptor in place.

I used JB Weld to attach the bolts for the 26 inch rad mounting holes (cannot get a wrench on the head of the lower bolt after installation). Primed and painted black….

My ’70 Challenger has a ’71 440 with a Carter AVS 4966S carburetor. The idle speed screw or throttle stop whatever it is called threads through a plastic piece inserted into the lower carb body (see pictures of yellowish piece). This plastic piece has broken on my carb and the idle speed adjustment can change as the plastic (and screw) slides away from the throttle cam.

Anyone know where this plastic piece can be found for replacement?

1971 Carter AVS 4966S issue…

I have a 1970 Challenger Convertible EW1 white that originally came with a white top (V3W). What is the correct material for a replacement top? Crush grain or pinpoint vinyl?

I’ve seen top companies say different things about what is original. Is there a difference in the shade of white?

Looking for an unmolested am/fm radio for my Challenger convertible. Non working is ok. Reasonably priced. A fully serviced radio should go for around $400. Thanks, Jim
