Is My Control Arm Toast?

Left side upper ball joint thread in just fine by hand initially, I cant even get it started on the right. A turn of the wrench is very hard and I’m assuming its cross threading. I got a picture of what I think is the culprit. The top thread gets basically cut off and flattened. Is it time for a new UCA, or should I just wrench it in? Dosent feel right to wrench it, and dosent look truly square.

UCA Slant

I noticed, 5 minutes ago while installing the UCAs, that the end of them where the ball join threads in is on a slope. 66 Monaco, btw. Anyone know which way the slope should go per side? I dont see any indicators of R/L on the arms themselves.

Also, w…

Brake Line Material

Zinc? Steel? Copper? Discs in front, re-lining the whole system.

Is my interior correct?

I’ve got a 66 Monaco and the interior makeover is coming up soon. I want everything original in there.

My cars got a red interior everywhere except the steering wheel and seats, they’re black. I dont think I’ve seen a combo like that before on the site, just full reds.

So my question is: Is this an original option, or has some one messed with it and it was originally full red?

I love a full red interior, but will keep it as is if that’s how it came.

Suspension Rebuild This Week

The suspension rebuild kit for my 66 Monaco just came in, and I have KYBs showing up on Monday. I know in the FSM there is a guide for the shocks, and there is probably info on the suspension as well. But, are there any tips that you guys would like to share with me that you learned from doing it yourself? Any special tools that I’ll need?

Heres what I’ll be replacing: All kits include: upper and lower ball joints, upper and lower control arm bushings, strut rod bushings, all (4) tie rod…

Lugnut Nightmare

I’m taking the old garbage wheels off the 66 Monaco. Two lugs on the driver front wheel were rusted on badly, somehow much worse than the other three, and would not come off no matter how much WD-40 and wrenching i applied. The nuts are completely destroyed now, and no socket will go on without slippage. I can’t weld, so i cant weld a larger nut over it, and have tried to sledgehammer a socket on with no luck. Any other possible solutions you guys have? Tomorrow I’ll probably end up going…
