Rear end gearing help needed
So currently my ’74 Challenger Rallye is running 3.91 gears. One thing I’ve learned quickly about this gear ratio is that while it gets off the line like the proverbial bat out of hades, it’s not a fun highway drive, as it revs the engine up way too high.
Now, as I’ve said here before, 25 years ago I knew a lot about these cars, but with time a lot of that information has eroded.

I was just (finally) putting my Challenger into winter storage tonight, so I polished it up and before I put the car cover on, I had to snap a pic because the lighting really shows the beauty of this car!
Any need for a higher amp alternator?
It’s looking like I might need to replace the alternator on my ’74 Challenger.
Looking on the various websites, they show a 65 amp alternator and also have a 114 amp alternator.
Normally, I would just go with the original, which I would assume is the 65 amp alternator.
However, this car has an MSD Ignition Box and an MSD Blaster 2 ignition coil. Would there be any need for an upgraded alternator? I also plan on installing a very nice stereo system into the car.
I don’t know enough…
Anybody install a Dash Cap?
The interior on my ’74 Challenger Rallye is in really nice shape, with the exception of 3 cracks in the dashboard.
Looking on Year One, I see they sell “dash caps” that basically fit right over the current dashboard (top).
Has anybody ever installed one of these before? My concerns are two fold.
1. Does the cap really look natural? Does it sit flat, adhere and mold to the original dash so it looks normal?
2. Does the color matchup? My question is if this thing is brand new, will the…
