Tell me about your lifts

This could be a game changer (for keeping my Newport at least)

So, as several may have seen, I’ve listed the Newport for sale. The stuff it needs done isn’t major, but looking forward, just maintaining it would be a challenge since I can’t get under the car. Well, this could change. I have the opportunity to get a metal carport installed, concrete poured, and a lift installed, all attached to the front of my current shop. Not only would this give me a place to work on it, but a place to…

1968 Chrysler Newport Custom (2 Door Hardtop)

PRICE DROP, $7200

I bought this car in December 2018 in Winston-Salem, NC from a gentleman who bought it from the original owner’s son, making me the 3rd or 4th owner, however you want to look at it. There is a thread in the Gold Member’s section about the work I’ve done to it since then, but it is time for me to accept that I don’t have time to keep a classic car. I will post pics as I have them, and will take new ones on request, and will…

383 Valve Covers

I don’t want to take parts off mine and leave them off for days while I wait for the powdercoater to get mine done, so if anyone has a set that they don’t want an arm and a leg for, let me know! I don’t care if they’re ugly, they’ll be blasted and coated anyway. I would need them shipped to the 28574 zip code.

License plate restoration?

So, while digging back through the box of stuff I pulled out of my Newport, I found the original license plate that was put on the car when it was bought new.

It looks like hell. The metal is great, but the past 50 years haven’t been kind to the paint. As much as I like my BULPORT plate, I’m considering having the plate changed to match the original numbers, and restoring the 1968 plate to its original glory.

It’s a tough decision, get rid of the BLUPORT tag, or just keep it, and leave…

383 Exhaust Manifold Question

On the passenger side manifold, it looks like there are 1 or 2 nipples on the manifold. I’m assuming this is for some type of pre-heating equipment that is no longer on my car? Are these actually holes going into the manifold? I’m asking because I hear a muffled fart noise that sounds a lot like an exhaust leak over there, and every time I drive the car, I smell like exhaust- even more so if I have the fresh air vents open.

So, if these ARE open ports into the manifold, can I just have them…
