Vacuum Lines & Throttle Cable…

On my old configuration (383 w/a 2 barrel carb) I had a v. line running from the carb to the v. diaphragm on the distributor. Now that I have a 4 barrel carb, where does that line go? There are at least two v. ports on the new carb (Edelbrock 750 cfm), maybe three or four (I’ll have to look…

Finding TDC…

Forgive me if I say anything stupid here…

Trying to find TDC using the coat-hanger-in-the-spark-plug-hole method. Piston comes up, up, up, valves are fully seated, and you’re done. But…. The engine is in the car and the exhaust manifolds are installed, therefore I will not be able to see…

Skipping and Jumping Wiper Blades

Saw a website that said this was either a dirty windshield or dirty blades or both. Clay bar the windshield. Done. 90% better. Went to NAPA for the product that is supposed to clean the blades. They didn’t have it but said that rubbing alcohol is all you need. Is this true? Thanks.

Fixing a leak… And good news.

Good news first — the carb went on yesterday. My 69 Polara, delivered to my house on June 1, 2006 will be on the road (hope and pray) by June 1, 2010. I am so, so close right now. Will keep you posted. In the meantime…

Got a tiny, tiny leak on my windshield washer reservoir. Smeared it…

Tranny gasket question…

Directions for applying my new gasket…

“Apply oil soluble grease to pan and place new gasket on pan.” This will keep the gasket in place when bolting up. Do NOT use gasket adhesive or gasket cement.

Okay, what the hell is “oil soluble grease”? What’s a good substitute? What can I use? …

Lubing my Ram

Got a 2000 Ram, 1500, 4X4…. Can’t seem to find the front ball joints for lubing. Are they sealed and not in need of lubing? The Chilton’s is not very helpful. Thanks.

My new Edelbrock carb…

Before installing the new carb, I need to determine if the old

“distributor vacuum port is TIMED (no vacuum at idle) or FULL (vacuum present at idle).

Apparently, I could have tested this when the car was running, but that was years ago. Can anybody tell me if I have TIMED or FULL vacuum?
