The Odd Rod 65 Fury won’t Start

My 65 Plymouth Sport Fury is called the “Odd Rod” by my friends in the classic car and truck world. I had been driving my car every Sunday after church. I drive ruffly between 150-200 miles around the area. My problem began on June 11th of this year. Haven’t had any problems with the car in 4 or 5 years other than on April 29th I had to replace the battery. On June 11th I had changed my oil, oil filter, air filter, checked all my fluid levels, tie pressure etc etc. Opened the door…

Pertronix Flame-Thrower Coil vs Ignition Ballast

:D:D:D The ignition system in my 65 Plymouth Sport Fury has a Ignition Ballast in the system running from the + side of Flame-Thrower coil to the Ignition Ballast. I have been told that the Ignition Ballast doesn’t need to be connected to the Flame-Thrower Coil in the Pertronix I Ignition System because it hinders the performance of the coil. But before I left the house I went to roll down the driver’s window and heard a pop sound and the window wouldn’t roll down. I had to push it down by hand but you could roll it up. So today I removed the door panel to see what was going on. You have the glass which is helded in a lift bracket along with a gasket and is all helded in place by a small plastic rivet. Well that small plastic rivet had broken. So…

My 65 Plymouth Sport Fury driver’s side rear axle bearing has gone out. I have pulled the axle and the remaining grease ran out and the bearing was dry. I have also pulled the passenger’s side and everything was good. The grease was intact. I noticed before I pulled the axle that the bottom of the back plate was cover greasily caked on brake dust and the back side of my mag was covered the greasily caked on brake dust as well. I have ordered a new inner seal, Collar, Cup and Bearing Cone,…
