It bugs me endlessly to see cars where the tires are pulled way in under a car–like A12 cars with G70s on 6 inch wheels. On the back of my ’68 Fury, I currently have a set of 255/70-15s on US Wheel Rat Rod 15x8s with 3.75″ backspace that look amazing. That said, they don’t accept a the ’68 center cap that I’d like to have the option of running. 8 inch wheels on front

Has anyone put the 15×8.5 Torq Thrusts with 3.77 or 3.81 backspace on a ’68 Fury?

I’ve got 15×7 cop wheels with 4.25 BS on it now and the sidewall is like 3″ away from the lip and it looks kinda dopey to me. I’d like to move the tires out closer to the lip but I wonder if losing a 1/2 inch of BS and adding 1.5 inches of width will be too much.

I don’t really know anything about it or it’s history and this guy didn’t seem to know much that wasn’t GM. I just drove by it while cruising around D’Iberville, MS and decided to stop and grab a few pictures.

440 is there, newly painted and it supposedly runs well. He told me that he was told it was rebuilt (probably a rattle can rebuild). The odometer shows roughly 56K and the state of the vinyl seats supports that… but you never know.

It’s a coast car so there are definitely bubbles…

I made this guy an offer that I thought was fair and took the time to explain that I wasn’t trying to insult him and that he could just keep my number and compare it to other offers he gets… dude got mad and explained that the car wasn’t for sale to “someone like you”. I’m not sure what that means–a C-body enthusiast with a particular interest in ’68 plymouths (I own 3 Fury III fast tops)? A proficient employer of the SHIFT key? One can’t know.
