727 Output Shaft

I didn't want to hijack clones thread on 727 race trannies, but it brought up something I've been wondering about. When I had my tranny built I told the guy what I wanted in it. Basically what I wanted was that the weakest part was going to be the case. Parts were from A&A and TCS Performance Products here in BC, they cloned A&A parts. I specified billet drums, steel front and ally rear, 4 pinion sportsman planetaries and hardened input and output shafts and a bunch of other stuff.

Both A&A and TCS said that I didn't need a hardened output shaft and that the stock shaft would easly handle over 800hp. While the tranny was being built I pretty much decided on putting a GearVendor overdrive in it so I didn't press the issue but I've wondered snce then, how much will a stock output shaft take? Work has been hard to come by this past year and the GearVendor is going to have to wait and I'm thinking that shaft is the weakest part of my power train.
