1956 Plymouth Savoy – Brakes/Rear End Swap

Hello all. I have a 1956 Plymouth Savoy that I purchased in 1986. I was 22 years old. Had I known then what I know now, that car would be still running today.

The Savoy has been parked in my barn since about 1990. The big issue with it was the brakes. I could get it to crank and run, but she wouldn't roll because of the brakes.

It has been impossible to get the rear drums off - no matter what I do. I haven't hooked a chain to them and tried to pull them with the tractor, but aside from that I've tried everything else - except putting a torch to them.

Does anyone know of a rearend swap that I could do?

I'm not up to date on all the numbers, but this Savoy is running a medium sized V8 with a push button two speed transmission. Maybe that will give you some kind of idea on which rear end I have.

I'd also love to put some discs on the front, if anyone knows of a conversion for that too, please share.

Thanks - wbhood
