Young Gun-With a Lot of Questions

Hey y'all. First I would like to say this is a great site, and will be a great help as I keep working on my Dart. I would also like to thank C_stripes and 69BronzeT5 for all the help they have been so far, and for recommending the site!

Anyway, I recently picked up a '72 Dodge Dart Swinger hardtop. MoPars have been my favorite vehicles for about 4 years now, and I still can't believe I was able to get one before I turned 16. Sure, it is a bight rough, needs floor pans, needs some interior parts, and is a project, but hey for $1800 bucks...what do you expect? Car is Green/Green, with black Rallye Wheels and some wide rear Street Radials. I bought the car myself (am now broke), but am planning fixes and mods for when I geta job next year.

Of course, being my first MoPar, I have a good number of questions. Most are about wiring, but all around some questions. It is a good sized list, so I would like to thank everybody in advance for their help!

1. My car was an original A/C car, but all the underhood parts have been yanked. The tube threads are still on the firewall, and I plan to cap these with basic pipe caps. Anyway, the heater and fan don't work, and I am afraid this might be part of the problem. Could this be possible? Where else should I look for a possible problem with the fan and heater?

2. There is a large black round "air box" type thing mounted on the top of the inner fender. It has a small round rubber tube running off the back of it and going into the firewall along with what I think is the heater control valve tube. Can I remove this and cut the tube off at the firewall?

3. At idle, my AmpMeter is very jumpy, but will even out as the throttle increases. I am planning to do the MadElectrical AmpMeter bypass soon, but am wondering if I should try to find a problem or if it is normal.

4. My flasher relay is hanging down under the dash. I had to fix a crappy "twist" splice somebody had done in the past, and am now trying to find how this should mount. Anybody have pictures?

5. Under my dash is a Map Light switch. I haven't been able to find what it does, or where its light is. Any tips?

6. The car came with the trunk lid torsion bars unhooked. I haven't been able to find a picture of how they should go. I want to get rid of the big Aluminum pipe I have to prop the lid up. Any pics?

7. My car came with no windshield washer parts other than the bottle and nozzles. I plan too pull the rest of the parts off a Duster I know about I can buy parts off of. This wire is in the area, and I think it might be for the washer pump. Am I right with this assumption?

8. These wires are currently hanging under my dash. No ideas what they could be for or where they hook. If this could help, my dome light and glove box light don't work, although both bulbs have been tested and work.

9. This plug is unplugged, and I have no idea what it could be for. It is just above the drivers kick panel. The stud I think it plugs onto is visible in the background.

10. Apparently, my car came with a trunk mounted light. Well, the wiring is butchered, so I took all the parts out. Now the pigtail for it is hanging down in the trunk, and the other plug further down the wheel well are open. Is it okay to leave these like this?

11. The front "latch panel" where the hood latch catches, is severally cracked. Can this panel be grabbed from another A-Body like a Duster? I really want to replace it to prevent any chance of hood release at speed.

12. The water temp gauge doesn't work. I have figured it is either burned out because of a faulty "Limiter" (Which I plan to replace with a Solid-State version from RT Engineering), or the sending unit is bad. I am assuming the small sending unit on the head just past the thermostat is the water sending unit. Is this correct?

13. What are the torque specs for the lugnuts? It has 14x7 Rallye wheels in the small 5 on 4" bolt pattern. The brakes are 4 wheel 10" Drums.

Thanks a ton guys. I know this is a big first thread, but I just got the car a week ago, and am still excited, and a bit ecstatic.

Thanks for all the help!!!:read2:
