How many HP do I have, also smokey engine (longish)

Hi there all,

I have a 318 that's a tad smoky. Predominantly on deceleration, so I'm hoping it's the valve seals. I've had the car a little over a week and just got around to a tune up today.

Wires, cap and rotor are all fine. Might replace the coil although it's seems to be ok, any high spark coil tips?

In any case, prior to today she ran on maybe 5, max 6 cylinders. Pulled all the plugs to find that the #1 plug was fouled and wet, not firing in other words. All other plugs were completely black except #8 which, was still terrible but at least a bit better. I suspect that cylinders 1,4 and possibly 3 weren't firing at all or properly.

Set the timing to around 10 degrees, it was way off at 35 degrees! I adjusted the carb, was way too rich. Runs like a champ, we'll have to see how quickly it fouls out again etc. From what I've read so far my intake gasket or valve seals could be leaking. If it's anything bigger I'm just gonna hunt a 360 down and drop it in rather than rebuild this.

The coming week I'll see what changes and report back here to hopefully isolate oil burning options. I'm hoping oil was seeping into the non combusting chambers and will now burn off after a few trips. (wishfullthinking much?!)

My main question:

I'd like to have my HP estimated by the you guys, I've yet to figure out what my drivetrain is, I'd just like your opinions of HP produced by the engine at the crank.

I have a stock 318, stock heads cam etc.

2bbl Carter Carb

Hooker Performance Headers

True dual 2.5" exhaust fitted with Flowtech Raptors. True dual so no H or X

The fan blades have been removed and it's fitted with an electric fan.

Power steering deleted

The only thing running off the crank pully are the alternator and the waterpump.

What am I producing roughly now?

What would a 4bbl 600 to 650 cfm carb do for me?

Last but not least, what would be a nice mild street cam (might as well when the 4bbl goes in)? I'm looking for the best cam with leaving the heads etc. stock.

Thanks
David
