Devo August 25 ~ You Can’t Be Serious…..

“You Can’t Be Serious, God!”

Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”

(Exodus 3:11)

Only four minutes remained, and the home team needed two touchdowns to win. But now the starting quarterback was writhing in pain on the field. The coach looked at the second-string quarterback and said, “OK, Jones. It’s all up to you. Get in there and lead this team to a win!” “But, Coach, I haven’t played all year! I don’t have enough experience, and the team will just ignore me. I know I’ll mess everything up and be ridiculed.” The coach looked him right in the eyes and said, “Jones, I am counting on you to rally this team. If you get in that huddle and anybody complains or disrespects you, then you just tell them that I am the one who sent you in and put you in charge. Then step up and be the leader we need right now.”

Like Jones, Moses also knew what it was like to be called to do an assignment he thought he wasn’t prepared to do. But God assured Moses: My authority is all the support you’ll need. We may sometimes feel unworthy or unqualified to do God’s work. But He will always provide the strength and guidance we need to succeed.

Precious Father, sometimes I feel unworthy or unqualified to serve You. But throughout the generations You have always used flawed people to fulfill Your plans. Help me overlook my own shortcomings and focus on Your strength and wisdom. In the name of Jesus, Lord and Savior of all, I pray. Amen !!
