Changing the ugly out

Finally found some time to do something to the car. Got rid of the ugly gray primer and surface rust. So far I have only sanded it back and used white primer instead, but it sure looks a lot nicer. Thought I had a leaking wheel cylinder, but it was …

Floors

Okay, I ripped (literally) the old rotted carpet out of my 68 NY’er. Floors look really good. The back floor pans look like they have run over something, or someone tried to put a jack under them – nothing a 2×4 and a big hammer cant fix…

The door panels are pretty good and the seats are in great shape.

Edelbrock 1405 Carb

Are these carbs made by Weber or by another company for the USA market. If different, does anyone know of any compatibility issues between the 2?

1968 New Yorker for sale

Okay I give up – tried to rebuild a carb on this and it’s leaking like a sieve. I used to be able to work on cars but I guess I can’t any more, so eff it.

1968 Chrysler New Yorker
Pretty good (red) upholstery – hood lining has a big rip in it – carpet is munted (water damage)
Odometer shows 33K miles
Good 440 big block – ran pretty good before I effed the carb up (Edelbrock 1405)
727 Trans
Fairly straight body – some chrome trim damage but no major rust
New gas tank, sender unit fitted…

Kinda a newbie question

Ok, got the old 440 fired up after replacing the gas tank et al. It will start and run with a drop or two of gas down it’s throat (a little rough, but it’s been sitting) but if I try to let it idle it will die and not restart without dropping some more gas down the carb. I set the idle up a bit – probably around the 1k rpm mark (by ear) and it’s fine. Once it stops, again no restart.
I checked the hoses to the carb for leaks and couldn’t find anything obvious.
As the fuel tank was so…

Kinda a newbie question
