Bob’s Component Resto, Part 26: The Battery

Good evening Mopar guys and gals. Are you itching to get your A-Body Mopar back on the road once spring arrives? Up here in the northland, we have to wait for the snow and salt to go away before we can get out on the roads, and this provided the perfect opportunity to dive into a winter project that I had been putting off. So prepare to fall asleep with tonight’s somnolent installment: The Battery. How many of you have been at a car show admiring the engine compartment of a beautifully…

Bob’s Component Resto, Part 26: The Battery

Just thought I’d pass this along.

I drove past this flag on my way home tonight. It was being illuminated from behind by the late afternoon sun here in Minnesota. Made me think of my dad who served in the Army after World War Two, and my grandfather who served in the Army during World War One. May they both rest in peace, and may God bless those who protect and defend us. That’s all. Thanks.

Bob’s Component Resto, Part 25: The Paperwork

Good evening my Mopar kiddies. I trust the new year has brought you happiness, peace and restful sleep. For some of us of course, the new year may not bring an end to your challenged sleep schedule, and so we’ll try to remedy that with this evening’s component resto chapter: The Paperwork. Gasket genius: We need you now!

Hi All: How many of us have owned a MOPAR product that DID NOT have a leaky brake master cylinder? Go to any junkyard full of vintage Mopar cars. Pretty much all of them show a great deal of firewall corrosion around the master cylinder, because they all leaked corrosive brake fluid onto the paint. The leaks are almost always from the master cylinder lid gasket. No matter what I do, I cannot stop my lid from leaking. And yes, I’ve tried all the tricks listed in this forum, short of replacing…

Truck versus Duster, and truck won.

Hi All: I don’t know about you, but I’m sick and tired of stuff falling off trucks and damaging my cars. It’s happened to my 69 Charger ($800.00 worth of damage) and now it just happened to my 1974 Duster. I was recently driving on a two lane state highway. A tanker truck was approaching me from the opposite direction. As he passed, I observed a piece of metal pipe come off the back of his truck, take one bounce off the pavement and then hit the left side of my hood. Had it struck six inches…

Eleven inches of snow last night!

Mopar brethren and sisterhood: We just had a winter storm pass through Minneapolis last night, followed by brilliant sunshine this morning. Even though I can’t drive it in the winter, I just love the way my 74 Gold Duster looks in fresh snow. So for your viewing pleasure, here’s what she looks like after the storm came through. The weak midwinter sun in Minnesota has a golden glow to it that really makes the JY9 Tahitian Gold Metallic paint pop out. I’m also sending along a few photos of my…
